Assessment and Certification
The NPORS Crane Supervisor (N405) course includes a theory and practical assessment. You must pass both to achieve certification. The practical assessment involves demonstrating your ability to safely supervise lifting operations. The assessor will observe tasks such as communicating lift plans, overseeing the correct selection and use of lifting equipment, and monitoring lifting activities, along with adherence to health and safety procedures and correct PPE use.
Upon passing, you can apply for an NPORS card. There are two options:
Red Trained Operator Card

Requires a valid CITB Health, Safety & Environment (HS&E) test
Blue Competent Operator Card

Valid for 5 years

Requires completion of a relevant NVQ
Apply for your NPORS Card via their website once you have completed your course.
Entry Requirements
- If you are applying for the NPORS CSCS card, you will need to have completed the CITB Operatives Health, Safety and Environment test passed no more than two years before the course start date
- Good understanding of spoken and written English.
