Assessment and Certification

The NPORS Industrial Counterbalance Lift Truck (N001) course includes both theory and practical assessments, both of which must be passed to achieve certification. The practical assessment involves demonstrating your ability to operate the lift truck safely and efficiently. The assessor will observe tasks such as pre-use inspections, manoeuvring, load handling, and fitting or removing attachments, along with adherence to health and safety procedures and correct use of PPE.

Upon passing, you can apply for an NPORS card. There are two options:

Red Trained Operator Card

  • Valid for 2 years

  • Requires a valid CITB Health, Safety & Environment (HS&E) test

Blue Competent Operator Card

  • Valid for 5 years

  • Requires completion of a relevant NVQ

  • If you are applying for the NPORS CSCS card, you will need to have completed the CITB Operatives Health, Safety and Environment test passed no more than two years before the course start date.
