SA002A Underground Safety Awareness Open Course Details
Once your payment is processed for your classroom-based course, you’ll receive your joining instructions via email.
Your joining instructions include the following details:
- The date of your chosen course
- Course start time
- Address of your chosen venue, including a map screenshot
- Duration of the course
Please bring the following Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to attend: a hard hat, eye protection, gloves, a high-visibility vest (long sleeve), clothing suitable for inclement weather, suitable safety boots, and ear defenders.
Importantly, you will need to carry your Photo ID (Driving License or Passport) & SWQR card with Excavation in the Highway unit.

The SA002A Underground Safety Awareness course evaluates delegates knowledge of safe practices, hazard identification, and compliance with health and safety legislation when working on or near underground structures and operational buildings.
Entry Requirements
There are no entry requirements. However, this Smart Awards accreditation requires individuals working on the highway to have the necessary NRSWA Street Works qualifications. It ensures that the person is qualified to verify that the planned work meets the legal requirements of the NRSWA. Importantly, this course is open to individuals aged 16 and over, and a basic knowledge of literacy is required to complete the assessment.
