What is the SA007 Asbestos Awareness Open Course?

An open course is in a classroom in a face-to-face environment. These courses have regular dates available for anyone to book online or by phone.

On successful completion of the SA007 – Asbestos Awareness course, delegates will be able to identify the properties and types of asbestos and its effect on human health, how to avoid the risks from asbestos and how to comply with the relevant legislation.   • Identify three different types of asbestos
  • Identify three likely locations where asbestos may be found
  • Describe how asbestos enters the body and its likely consequences
  • Outline the legislative requirements relating to asbestos removal
  • State types of asbestos waste
  • Outline the health and safety issues and requirements relating to the safe removal of asbestos
  • Outline industry regulations which apply to the removal of materials containing asbestos
  • State the importance of following the correct procedures for the removal of asbestos
  • Outline the procedures for the packaging and disposal of asbestos waste
  • State how to store asbestos and contaminated materials
  • State why it is important to wait for a licensed asbestos contractor to remove asbestos
  • Outline prevention and control measures for reducing health risks associated with asbestos-containing materials
  • State types of personal protective equipment (PPE) used when dealing with hazardous asbestos materials
  • State how to review company paperwork to identify whether asbestos is present and what type it is
  • State the types of hazards/risks that may occur in the workplace linked with asbestos
  • State the importance of protective equipment when exposed or working with asbestos
