SA025 – Trenching and Slot Cutting in Utilities

The SA025 Trenching and Slot Cutting in Utilities course focuses on teaching safe techniques for excavating trenches and slot cutting when installing utility pipes with machinery. Specifically, delegates will learn the procedures, tools, equipment, and materials needed for excavation to locate and clear blockages in utilities, as well as how to excavate and restore surfaces on utility network plants. Burying utility lines protects them from weather, impact, and tampering. Moreover, slot cutting techniques, which are safer for both workers and the environment, prepare delegates to work effectively in a construction utility environment. Ultimately, delegates will be able to safely carry out trenching and slot cutting to create trenches for the installation of utility pipes. Notably, no prerequisites exist for this course; however, it is available to those aged 16 and over.
