What is Safety Harness Training?
Open courses are face-to-face, classroom-based training. They have regular dates available to book either online or by phone.
This training will teach you the safe use of safety harnesses when working at heights, ensuring adherence to Work at Height regulations. Delegates will learn about the current laws, inspection of equipment, and the correct selection and use of safety harnesses for their tasks.
Who Should Attend Safety Harness Training?
This training is essential for anyone who might be at risk of falling from a height whilst at work. Typically, a safety harness is necessary when working at heights of six feet or above. The course is relevant for managers, supervisors, and workers who might need or use fall prevention equipment.

Safety Harness Training Course Details
On receiving payment for your Safety Harness Training course, an email with your ‘course joining instructions’ is sent to you.
This document includes the following details:
- Your chosen course date
- Course start time at your chosen venue
- Address of your chosen venue, including a map screenshot
- Details of what to do if you need any special requirements to complete the course
You need to bring photographic ID, such as a driving licence or passport with you.
Lunch is not included, so please provide your own.
Safety Harness Training Course Content
You will cover the following learning objectives on your course:
- Understanding the importance of wearing a safety harness when working at heights.
- Identifying different types of safety harnesses and their components.
- Learning how to inspect and properly fit a safety harness.
- Knowing how to safely use and adjust the harness while working at heights.
- Understanding the hazards associated with working at heights and how to mitigate them using a safety harness.
- Knowing how to properly store and maintain a safety harness.
- Understanding the relevant legislation and regulations related to working at heights and using safety harnesses.
- By the end of the course, participants should be able to demonstrate their knowledge of these objectives and be equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to safely use a safety harness when working at heights.
IPAF Harness Training
The International Powered Access Federation, IPAF, developed their courses to promote the correct, safe and effective use of powered access. IPAF are the UK’s most established access platform training provider and have been in operation since 1983. The law requires employees to be properly training on the equipment they use at work. On successful completion of an IPAF course, you will receive a The PAL card. This offers proof from the leading organisations in powered access equipment, that you have been trained to work at height safely. We also offer IPAF courses, including their Safety Harness course.
