Telecoms courses in Edinburgh
The Telecoms Civils Package 3 venue in Edinburgh is located at Deans Industrial Estate, just off the M8 motorway. Livingston North Railway Station is approximately a 5-minute taxi ride away. The nearest bus stop is a short 4-minute walk from the training venue.
There is free parking available onsite. Lunch is not provided, so please feel free to bring your own. However, there is also a café on-site, open from 8:30am to 2:30pm.

What to expect from your course
Your course will cover a combination of Openreach civil engineer modules over the 5 days of your course. Module combinations vary by location. Therefore, the combination listed below applies specifically to the Edinburgh course:
Package 3
- Q013 (BB1M) Box Building (Modular) – covers how to build modular jointing chambers for underground telecoms work.
- Q019 (CD1) Core Drilling – covers practical skills and theoretical understanding of core drilling jointing chambers, specifically Duct 54, 56 and small ducts.
- Q020 (DB1) – Duct Blockages – covers the skills needed to clear duct blockages on Openreach UG infrastructure.
- Q021 (DL1) – Duct Laying 1 – covers the installation of Duct 54 and 56 as used on the Openreach UG network.

Equipment to bring on the day
You will be required to wear protective clothing. Requirements vary by location, and some centres can be more accommodating, but typically you are required to bring:
- Hi-Vis Clothing
- Safety Boots
- Safety Helmet (with 4 point chin strap)
- Gloves
- Eye shields
Please be aware that candidates without the appropriate PPE may be denied entry to the course, and fees will still apply. If you do not have access to any of this equipment/clothing please let us know, call or chat with our team and they will be happy to advise you.
Prerequisites
The Telecoms Civils Package 3 is for individuals with prior civils experience. You will not be able to take the course unless you hold the required qualifications. Specifically, for the Edinburgh Telecoms Civil Package 3, you must have completed the following prerequisites:
SA006 Safe Working in Civils, NRSWA Unit LA, NRSWA Unit O1 Signing, Lighting, and Guarding NRSWA Unit 02, NRSWA Unit 03, K008 Hand Rodding and PIA S7.
Entry requirements can vary based on location and the specific package you need.
