What is First Aid Training?
First aid training will equip you with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide immediate and appropriate assistance in medical emergencies. First aid training is a vital component of being prepared for an emergency and it plays a crucial role in saving lives and reducing the severity of injuries.
Who should attend a First Aid Training course?
As a minimum, you need to have an appointed person in the workplace to take charge of any emergency situation that occurs in the workplace. The Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 require employers to provide adequate and appropriate equipment, facilities and personnel to ensure if an employee requires medical attention, they receive it immediately.
What is considered ‘adequate and appropriate’ will vary within workplaces.
If you work in a high-risk environment, you will need qualified First Aiders in your workplace. If you work in a low-risk environment, after a risk assessment of your workplace it may be decided that only Emergency First Aid would be appropriate.
