IOSH Working Safely is a one-day course which covers the essentials of health and safety within a working environment. The course is designed to be a high-impact programme, delivered with an enjoyable, interactive and stimulating learning approach, ultimately teaching delegates “how to work safely”.
The course teaches delegates that small changes in everyday behaviours can be crucial in keeping themselves and their colleagues safe and how risks are assessed within the workplace. In addition, it also touches on how business performance and staff motivation can be improved through good health and safety practices, as well as the relevant laws associated with health and safety.
IOSH Working Safely Course Content
The IOSH Working Safely course content is split into four modules which a trainer will guide you through:
Module 1 – Introducing Working Safely: Define what is meant by safe working, why is it important to work safely, who is responsible for health & safety in the workplace, an organisation’s responsibilities for health & safety and who has responsibility for worker actions.
Module 2 – Defining Hazard & Risk: Identify sources of hazards & risks, identify the six hazard groups, hazards which are not easy to identify what is meant by the term ‘hazard’, ‘risk’, ‘risk assessment’, ‘likelihood’, ‘consequence’ and ‘reasonably practicable’ and how to decide on what actions to take the control risk.
Module 3 – Identifying Common Hazards: Understand workplace precautions for the control of common workplace hazards and risks
Module 4 – Improving Safety Performance: Delegates will gain insights into workplace safety, including risk assessment, individual and organizational roles in enhancing safety, and the effective use of safety protocols and equipment. The module covers topics from the importance of attitude and behaviour, emergency procedures, incident reporting, to health surveillance and the roles of safety committees and enforcement inspectors.
