The Q019 (CD1) – Core Drilling course training venue in Horley is located 8 minutes from Gatwick, just off the A23. It is easily accessible from Crawley and Gatwick via the A23 and Redhill via the A217. Horley railway station is approximately a 5-minute drive away. While the nearest bus stop is a 5-minute walk away, it is served by local services 20 and 100, which connect to the training venue.
Lunch is not included; however, there are local shops nearby for you to purchase food and drinks.

What to expect from your course
On your Q019 (CD1) – Core Drilling course in Horley, you will be trained in how to confidently operate core drilling tools, follow safety procedures, and carry out drilling tasks to industry standards. This training is essential for those working on Openreach infrastructure projects, where compliance, precision, and safety are critical. You will be assessed through a questionnaire and a practical assessment. Once you successfully complete the course, you will receive an Openreach-approved certification, which is valid for 3 years.
Equipment to bring on the day
You will be required to wear protective clothing. Requirements vary by location, and some centres can be more accommodating, but typically you are required to bring:
- Hi-Vis Clothing
- Safety Boots
- Safety Helmet (with 4 point chin strap)
- Gloves
- Eye protection
